You can upload assets from your local computer to Unity Asset Manager and keep the same folder structure you use there. This helps you to easily browse and manage your files in Asset Manager, especially if your local repository is already organized.
When you upload a folder, you can choose one of the following upload options:
  • Match the folder structure (default): You can preserve your folder hierarchy and convert folders into Collections, and files into assets.
  • Ignore the folder structure: You can flatten your folder hierarchy and upload all files into a single level with no Collections.

Prerequisites

  • You have the Contributor or higher role in the Asset Manager project where you will add assets.
  • The recommended best practice is to keep your folder size under 4 GB. Use the CLI ingestion tool for larger uploads and more complex repositories.

Upload a folder

To upload a folder:
  1. In Asset Manager, select the project where you want to upload assets.
  2. Select +Add.
  3. Select Folder Upload. The Select Folder to Upload dialog opens.
  4. Choose a folder from your computer. You can select only one folder at a time.
  5. Select Upload.
  6. If Asset Manager detects common assembly formats or related files, it creates a single asset containing multiple files. To stop grouping files into one asset, use the Create asset option toggle.
  7. On the File upload page, choose an option:
    • Match the folder structure or
    • Ignore the folder structure
  8. Select Create assets.
Your assets are uploaded to your project.
Note
You can't remove individual files when you upload a folder. Asset Manager includes all files in the selected folder.

Upload individual files

To upload individual files:
  1. In Asset Manager, select the project where you want to upload assets.
  2. Select +Add.
  3. Select File Upload. The dialog opens.
  4. Choose one or more files from your computer.
  5. Select Open. Your files are listed on the File upload page.
  6. Select Create assets.
Each file is added as a single asset.
