View Materials Override

View the material channels assigned to a 3D asset.

Use Materials Override to inspect a 3D model in the Asset Manager viewer without changing the original asset’s materials. Material channels are baked into the model as a single texture. This enables efficient rendering and ensures a consistent appearance across environments. You can inspect the following material channels in the Asset Manager viewer:

Material Channel

Description

AlbedoDefines the base color of the surface.
EmissionControls light emitted by the material.
MetalnessDetermines how metallic the surface appears.
Normal mapAdds surface detail without increasing geometry.
Occlusion mapSimulates shadowed areas to enhance depth.
OpacityAdjusts the transparency of the surface.
RoughnessControls how shiny or matte the material appears.
UV checkerboardDisplays the UV layout to debug textures.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirements:
  • You have the Consumer or higher role in the Asset Manager project.
  • Your asset is a 3D model.

Inspect material channels in the viewer

  1. Select an asset. The side panel opens.
  2. At the bottom of the panel, expand the Preview section to open the viewer.
  3. Select the sphere icon to open the Materials Override side panel.
  4. Select the material you want to view.
The material you select appears in the viewer.
