Edit an asset

Edit metadata and files for an asset.

You can update the metadata and properties that Asset Manager uses to make an asset discoverable. You can also update the individual files in the asset. Additionally, you can update the preview file to make the asset visually identifiable.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
  • You must have at least the Contributor role in the Asset Manager Project.

Edit an asset's metadata

To edit an asset's metadata:
  1. Select an asset. The side panel opens.
  2. Edit or enter values for metadata fields such as Description, Asset Type, or Tags. If you want to clear your entry, select the X mark.
  3. Select the checkmark to save your entries, or click anywhere outside the field to save. .
Your edits are now saved. When you edit metadata, it doesn’t create a new asset version. Each asset version has its own Metadata history. You can view your changes in the Metadata history.

View metadata history

To view an asset version's metadata history:
  1. In the side panel, in the upper-right corner, select the version number dropdown menu.
  2. Select Show metadata history. The Metadata history tab opens.
You can view all the metadata changes made to the asset. To restore the metadata changes made to the asset, select the restore icon. Changes made within five minutes of each other appear as a single grouped block.

Edit an asset's files

To edit an asset's files:
  1. Select an asset. The side panel opens.
  2. Select Edit files. The edit files window opens.
  3. Upload new files, Replace or Remove existing files.
  4. Select Save version.
Your file changes are saved. This creates a new asset version.

Set as preview file

To set a file as the preview for an asset:
  1. Select an asset. The side panel opens.
  2. Select Edit files. The edit files window opens.
  3. Select the more (...) menu next to the file you want.
  4. Select Set as preview.
This file now appears as the preview image for the asset.
