When you open a draft, a blank scene appears

It might take a few seconds for your draft to load, especially if your project is large or your internet connection is slow. It's recommended to wait at least one minute before closing the tab or trying to reload the page. If after a minute your scene is still empty, something might be broken. In that case, try recovering a previously saved version of your draft from the Asset Manager. For more information, refer to Recover previous draft versions.

When you open the home screen, an error message appears

You might encounter one of the following error messages when you access Unity Studio:
  • You don't have the correct roles to create a project in the selected organization. Please contact the organization administrator.
  • You don't have a valid seat for this organization. You can always switch to your personal organization [your organization's name] to use Unity Studio.
  • You don't have permissions for this organization. You can always switch to your personal organization [your organization's name] to use Unity Studio.
Those errors are specific to your permissions in the Asset Manager organization used with Unity Studio. The beta itself has no special requirements, but access and permissions depend on the organization you select:
  • Use your own organization: Everything works as expected and you have full permissions.
  • Join an external organization: Make sure you have the correct permissions to upload, download, or create projects. The organization owner or admin needs to grant you these permissions. There are default permissions based on your role, but admins can adjust them for each project.
  • Join an Industry organization: You need to have an industry seat assigned to your account to collaborate in that organization.

You encounter performance issues

If you encounter performance issues with Unity Studio, try the following methods:

Check that your browser supports WebGPU

Unity Studio requires browsers that support WebGPU. For optimum experience, use the desktop version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to access Unity Studio. The following are the most common browsers that support WebGPU:

Browser

Version

Google ChromeWebGPU is enabled by default in Chrome version 113+.
Microsoft EdgeWebGPU is enabled by default in 113+.
SafariSafari 17+ (latest version) on macOS and iOS/iPadOS.
FirefoxTo enable WebGPU in Firefox, use Firefox Nightly and then set dom.webgpu.enabled to true.
To check if your browser supports WebGPU, you can run a test in your chosen browser:

Follow this step-by-step guide to check if your browser supports WebGPU:
  1. Open Unity Studio in your browser.
  2. Open the Developer Console:
  • On Chrome: press Ctrl+Shift+J (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+J (macOS), or go to Menu (⋮) > More Tools > Developer Tools > Console.
  • On Edge: press Ctrl+Shift+J (Windows) or Cmd+Option+J (macOS), or Menu (⋯) > More Tools > Developer Tools > Console.
  • On Firefox: press Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+K (macOS), or Menu (≡) > More Tools > Web Developer Tools > Console.
  1. In the console input at the bottom, enter:
    navigator.gpu
    .
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Interpret the result:
  • If it prints
    GPU (…)
or an object, WebGPU is available.
  • If it prints
    undefined
    , WebGPU isn't available in this browser/context.
  • If an error message appears to inform you that the navigator isn't defined, make sure the Console is focused on the page (not on a background frame) and reload the page.

Follow this step-by-step guide to check if your version of Safari supports WebGPU:
  1. Go to Safari > Settings > Advanced.
  2. Enable Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  3. Open the page where Unity Studio runs.
  4. Open the Web Inspector Console and do one of the following:
  • Go to Develop > Show Web Inspector, then select the Console tab.
  • Press Option+Cmd+C.
  1. In the console, type
    navigator.gpu
    and press Enter.
  2. Interpret the result:
  • If it returns an object or value, WebGPU is available.
  • If it returns
    undefined
    , WebGPU isn't available.
If your current browser isn’t supported, use the latest version of Chrome or Edge.

Ensure the browser uses your discrete GPU

If Unity Studio doesn't run properly in your browser, try setting your browser to use your discrete GPU instead of integrated graphics.

1

Disable system power saving

  1. Open Settings > System > Power & battery.
  2. Under Power Mode, choose Best Performance (or Balanced if Best Performance is unavailable).
2

Force the browser to use the high‑performance GPU

  1. Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
  2. Go to Custom settings for applications.
  3. Use the search bar to search for your browser application. If the search returns nothing, select Add desktop app and add your browser:
  • Chrome:
    C:\Program_ Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
  • Edge:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe
  • Firefox:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
  1. Select the added browser, then set GPU preference to High Performance.
3

Configure settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel

  1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Select Manage 3D settings.
  3. Select the Program Settings tab.
  • Set option 1 to your browser application.
  • Set option 2 to High‑performance NVIDIA processor.
  1. Select Apply.
4

Configure settings in the Intel Graphics Command Center

  1. Open the Intel Graphics Command Center.
  2. Select System > Power > On Battery > Power Plans.
  3. Set to Maximum Performance.

For laptops with automatic graphics switching:
  1. Go to System Settings > Battery.
  2. Disable Automatic graphics switching (forces discrete GPU when plugged in).

Enable graphics or hardware acceleration

If Unity Studio has performance issues, it might help to enable graphics or hardware acceleration.

  1. Go to Menu (⋮) > Settings > System.
  2. Enable Use graphics acceleration when available.
  3. Relaunch Chrome.

  1. Go to Menu (⋯) > Settings > System and performance > Graphics acceleration.
  2. Enable Use graphics acceleration when available.
  3. Relaunch Edge.

  1. Go to Menu (≡) > Settings > General.
  2. Performance: Disable Use recommended performance settings and enable Use hardware acceleration when available.
  3. Relaunch Firefox.

Hardware acceleration is enabled by default and you can’t deactivate it.

Unity Studio stalls at 100% during loading

If Unity Studio stalls at 100% during loading, try the following methods to fix this issue:

Toggle hardware or graphics acceleration

  1. Deactivate graphics or hardware acceleration. To find this setting for your browser, refer to Enable graphics acceleration.
  2. Fully quit the browser and then re-open.
  3. Re-activate graphics/hardware acceleration.
  4. Fully quit the browser and reopen again.

Fully restart the browser

Close all windows and ensure the process exits (use Task Manager on Windows or quit from the Dock on macOS).
