Manage regions

Note: The content on this page pertains to Game Server Hosting (Multiplay) available on the Unity Cloud Dashboard. If you’re using Game Server Hosting (Clanforge), refer to the Game Server Hosting (Clanforge) documentation.

A region is a collection of machines within a specific geographic region. You can manage regions within your account from the Unity Cloud Dashboard.

Bring a region online

The following instructions explain how to bring a region online from the Unity Cloud Dashboard.

  1. In the Unity Cloud Dashboard, open Game Server Hosting (Multiplay).
  2. Select Fleets.
  3. Select the fleet you want to update.
  4. Go to the Scaling settings. This is where all the regions within the fleet are listed along with their scaling settings.
  5. Select the edit icon next to the region you want to bring online.
  6. Select the region status then select Online.

Note: You can only bring a region online if it’s not already online.

The status text should update to Bringing online. The status updates again after the region is completely online.

Take a region offline

The following instructions explain how to take a region offline from the Unity Cloud Dashboard.

Warning: Taking a region offline can impact players by limiting the available capacity in this region. If you allocate players in this region to a nearby region, they might experience higher latency than normal.

  1. In the Unity Cloud Dashboard, open Game Server Hosting (Multiplay).
  2. Select Fleets.
  3. Select the fleet you want to update.
  4. Go to the Scaling settings. This is where all the regions within the fleet are listed with their scaling settings.
  5. Select the edit icon next to the region you want to bring offline.
  6. Select the region status, then Take fleet offline.

The status text should update to Draining. The status updates again after the region is completely offline.

Add a region

The following instructions explain how to add a region to a fleet from the Unity Cloud Dashboard.

  1. In the Unity Cloud Dashboard, open Game Server Hosting (Multiplay).
  2. Select Fleets.
  3. Select the fleet you want to update.
  4. Go to the Scaling settings. This is where all the regions within the fleet are listed along with their scaling settings.
  5. Select Add region.
