Quality of service (QoS)

Note: The content on this page pertains to Managed Game Server Hosting (Clanforge). If you’re using Game Server Hosting (Multiplay), refer to the Game Server Hosting (Multiplay) documentation.

Quality of Service (QoS) describes the strength of a network connection between the game client and the game server. Typically, QoS measures latency and packet loss, two metrics that you want to reduce as much as possible. Matchmakers can use QoS to group players by location, which helps ensure that players in a given game session are connected to the optimal game server to provide a good experience.

Game clients that use Managed Game Server Hosting (Clanforge)'s QoS service can choose a server by gathering QoS data that gauges the quality of the connection between the game server and client.
