Fleets

A fleet encapsulates a set of regions, locations, providers, profiles, and scaling settings applied to compute availability, including bare metal machines and cloud instances. Each account service can have one or many fleets associated with it. Having multiple fleets under the same account allows you to manage multiple environments, each with a dedicated fleet. For example, you might have a separate fleet for each of your development environments, for each of the platforms your game supports, or for both. An account that manages a separate fleet for each development environment might have a fleet for the production environment, a fleet for the staging environment, and a fleet for the development environment. An account that manages a fleet for each platform might have a fleet for Xbox®, a fleet for PlayStation®, and a fleet for personal computers (PC).

The cross-section between a geographic region and a fleet is a fleet region. Fleet regions are subcomponents of a fleet that allow for more granular control over game servers within the fleet. Each fleet region within a fleet has a set of scaling settings that override the parent fleet’s scaling settings and one or more locations in which game servers within the fleet region exist.
