Organizations
Important: We are in the process of updating the Version Control experience. If you do not have the New experience banner in your Version Control navigation menu, refer to the UVCS organizations section.
Unity organization owners and managers can assign seats and manage settings. Unity Version Control (UVCS) leverages Unity organization and project access management, which you can access through the Administration section of your Unity Cloud Dashboard.
If you add a user to a Unity organization, they can view all of the projects and repositories in that organization. If you add a user to a Unity Cloud project, they can only view repositories within that project. Users need a DevOps seat to get write access to all of the repositories they have access to, otherwise they have read-only access.
For documentation on how to manage Unity organizations and Unity Cloud projects, refer to the following pages:
UVCS Organizations
Important: We are in the process of updating the Version Control experience. If you have the New experience banner in your Version Control navigation menu, this section doesn't apply to you.
You can navigate UVCS organizations from the Unity Cloud Dashboard:
- From the Unity Cloud Dashboard, open DevOps.
- Select Version Control > Organizations.
The organizations page contains the following information:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Name | The name of the organization. |
Description | A short description of the organization. |
Storage used | The total amount of organization storage used. |
Members | Total number of members in the organization. |
Organization management
In the Unity Cloud Dashboard, different organizations are managed separately.
Unity organizations
When you first sign up to use Unity DevOps in the Cloud dashboard, in the onboarding process, you either select a Unity organization or create a new one.
UVCS organizations
UVCS organizations are hosted in our data centers. They're a container of repositories, acting as a logical UVCS server. They restrict access to the list of users who are assigned to a seat in them.
You'll leverage your Unity account to authenticate in a UVCS organization. You'll be granted access if you're assigned to a seat in said organization. The contents that display depend on the permissions set by the UVCS organization administrators.
