Game image installation failure

Note: The content on this page pertains to Managed Game Server Hosting (Clanforge). If you’re using Game Server Hosting (Multiplay), refer to the Game Server Hosting (Multiplay) documentation.

Game image installations can sometimes fail. The following list details of some common reasons why a game installation might fail.

  • There’s not enough disk space on the machine.
  • The game image doesn’t exist.
  • The game image doesn’t have the correct permissions.
  • There was a network connection disruption during the installation.
  • The machine is unreachable.
  • An outstanding difference analysis locked the game image version.
  • The machine has a failing drive, and the game image can't be written to the drive.

You can determine if game image installation has failed by querying the status of the game image installation job with the API or by checking the Install jobs section of Game Server Hosting. In either case, an accompanying error message provides more information about why the installation failed.

In most cases, you’ll need to reach out to the customer success team to resolve the issue. However, there are some issues you can resolve on your own. For example, an outstanding difference analysis has locked the game image. You can remove the lock by rejecting the outstanding difference analysis.
