Manual placement loading procedure

You can use this method or the general loading procedure for manual placement, however, if you use the general procedure, you must move the model into position on the site before you can align it. This can be difficult because, if you are using manual placement, the general loading procedure positions you in the exact center of the model regardless of your position in the real-world site.

To minimize the effort of positioning the model on the site, this procedure uses Navigate mode to position you in the location you intend to use for alignment in AR mode.

Load and manually place the model

  1. Physically move to the location on the site that you want to use for alignment.

  2. In Navigate mode, if the File Browser is not open, tap the Load button.

  3. the File Browserwindow, select your model and tap Load.
    .

  4. Use the controls in Navigate mode to move the avatar to corresponding location in the model. Position the avatar so that he is standing in front of you with his back towards you.

  5. Hold your device up at head height, parallel with your view (not slanted).

  6. Switch to AR mode.

The model loads. You are placed in the avatar’s last location in the model.

  7. If you were not prompted to scan earlier, scan the site. You can move away from your initial position to complete the scan.

  8. Move back to the alignment location.

  9. Align the model. Use the tools in the Align menu (model alignment tools) to complete model placement.
