Configure your Unity Version Control (UVCS) clients to connect to an On-Prem server that uses SAML authentication.
This is the last of three tasks to set up SAML authentication. For an overview, refer to Introduction to SAML authentication with Microsoft Entra ID.

Prerequisites

Configure a client

You can configure a client in the command-line interface (CLI), in the desktop application, or in Gluon.

Configure the client in the CLI

To configure the client in the CLI:
  1. Open a terminal.
  2. To open the client configuration wizard, enter
    cm configure
    .
  3. Select a language.
  4. Enter your server address in the format
    <ServerName>:<Port>
    .
  5. Copy the URL that the wizard displays, and open it in your browser to sign in.
  6. Optional: Configure a proxy server. To skip this option, press Enter.
UVCS generates an internal token in the
tokens.conf
file. This file also contains a session token with the data that you configured on the server.
The following example shows an internal token:
{ "sub": "d65ccf6c-570c-44b6-bf71-4378b4dc271f", "atk": "<access token>", "exp": 1704899706}
The following example shows a session data token:
{ "sessionId": "_e3628328-1039-415f-abc2-c7ce3ac6300b", "sessionExpirationDateUtcTicks": 638417025067136900, "tokenDurationInMinutes": 65, "exp": 1706105706}

Configure the desktop application or Gluon

If you open the desktop application or Gluon without a configured client, it displays a window to connect to a new server.
To connect to the server:
  1. Enter the server address in the format
    server:port
    . On Windows, you can also select Scan network to find available servers.
  2. Select Connect.
  3. In the browser window that opens, sign in to your account.
