In User and password (UP) mode, you manage the users and groups of your Unity Version Control (UVCS) server yourself.
You can use the server administration console, or the
umtool
command on the command line. Both tools update the
users.conf
and
groups.conf
files.
For information about how UP mode works, refer to User and password authentication.

Manage users and groups in the server administration console

Use the User and password configuration section of the server administration console to:
  • Create users and groups.
  • Assign users to groups.
  • Change user passwords.
  • Rename or delete users and groups.
Each user sets their sign-in name and password in the client configuration wizard. If the credentials don't match, the desktop application displays a sign-in screen at startup. The user enters the correct credentials there.

Manage users and groups on the command line

umtool
is a server command that configures users, groups, their relationships, and passwords from the operating system's console.
To get help for a subcommand, run the following command. Replace
%serverinstalldir%
