Available Xcode versions

Review available Xcode versions for iOS and macOS builds in Unity Build Automation.
Read time 2 minutesLast updated 2 months ago

Unity Build Automation (UBA) keeps Xcode binaries for approximately 15 months. UBA makes an announcement and deprecation notice at approximately 12 months. Historically, Xcode versions stop working with the previous iOS or macOS version, which is typically between 16 and 18 months. Unity recommends that you upgrade iOS projects to the most recent Xcode version.
To submit your iOS or iPadOS app to the App Store, you must build your app with Xcode 26.0 or later, macOS Sequoia, and the SDK for either iOS 26 or iPadOS 26. You can use an older Xcode version to build, but you won't be able to submit your app to the App Store. For more information, refer to Apple's Upcoming Requirements.
You must configure iOS build targets with a specific Xcode version. UBA uses the following default values for other platforms built on macOS when you either select a default version or you don't specify an Xcode version:

Unity Version Compatibility

Xcode 15

Xcode 15 changes the
ProductName
in the
version.plist
, which might cause issues when compiling IL2CPP for macOS and iOS. This issue doesn't occur in these Unity versions:
  • 6000.1.0a1+
  • 2023.2.0b12+
  • 2023.1.15f1+
  • 2022.3.10f1+
