Move into position
To place or align a model, you must move into position on the site.
Your position during placement
If you use AR markers, reference points, or anchor locks to place a model, move to location on the physical site that corresponds to the alignment option's location in the model.
You must be able to physically access the location on the site. For example, you won't be able to scan an AR marker if equipment at the location prevents you from positioning the HoloLens between 12 and 18 inches from the marker.
If you are using manual placement, VisualLive for HoloLens uses your location on the site as the center of the model's geometry.
Important: Do not move away from the alignment location until the model is placed.
Placement/alignment method and required proximity
Alignment option | Required proximity |
---|---|
AR markers | Between 12 and 18 inches. |
Reference points | Close enough to accurately select reference points on the site that correspond to the reference points in the model. See Two-point placement. |
Anchor locks | Within a few feet. |
Two-point alignment | Close enough to accurately select alignment points in the model and the corresponding points on the site. See Alignment (two-point alignment). |
