Manual placement (manual adjustment)

Manual placement is the fastest way to view a model somewhere other than the job site, such as in your office. This method is especially recommended when one of the following cases apply:

  • No AR markers or reference points have been set in the VisualLive plug-in
  • No anchor locks have been saved
  • You plan on using a different location in the model as your initial placement point.

Important: If you are using manual adjustment to place the model, VisualLive for HoloLens uses your location on the site as the center of the model's geometry.

Prerequisite

The steps in Load a model have been completed.

Place the model manually

  1. Airtap Manual Adjustment in the placement options on the main window. (You may have to skip the prompt for Anchor Search for the option to appear in the window).

The model loads into view, and the Model Tools window opens.

  2. Move to the location in the model that you want to use as your first alignment point.

  3. Use any of the model tools to align the model. See Model Tools.

You can save this alignment point for future sessions by creating an anchor lock. See Lock the model's position.
