Asset Manager user roles

Learn how to manage users and assets in your project through Unity Cloud's role based system.

Unity Asset Manager roles and permissions build on the default user types that users have within your Unity organization for viewing and managing Unity Cloud projects. They can be split into two areas:
  • To manage projects or users you need an Owner or Manager user type at organization level or project level.
    • For example an organization Owner or Manager can create projects and invite users to the organization or project.
    • A project Owner or Manager can add and remove users from a project, but can't create projects.
  • To manage assets you need an Asset Manager role at either an organization or project level.
    • For example, at organization level an Asset Manager Admin can view and manage assets across all projects, and create custom metadata types for the organization.
    • Project Contributors can add, remove, and edit assets only for the specific projects that they have access to.

Unity Cloud user types

To add users to your organization, you need the Owner user type or the Manager user type for the organization. An organization Owner or Manager can give those users any user type or role they want as part of this process.
If you want someone to have control or access to projects but not access to your whole organization then assign them a project role. Project Owner or Managers can add or remove users in a project. Project Users can only get access to a Unity Cloud project through their project add-on role, for example specific Asset Manager roles. Read more about user types, roles and permissions.
To protect intellectual property or to simplify the organization's project list, restrict the visibility of some projects to organization owners, organization managers, and project members.

Asset Manager roles

Asset Manager roles are designed to give organization members access and permissions in projects that are enabled in Asset Manager.

Organization-level roles

The Asset Manager Admin role gives the organization user full asset permissions over all Asset Manager projects in an organization. Organization Owners and Managers by default get all permissions in the Asset Manager Admin role and do not need any additional roles.
참고
API users with service accounts can also create projects with this role. Whereas, web app users can't create projects with this role.

Asset Manager Admin

Project-level roles

Asset Manager project level roles only apply to individual Asset Manager projects in your Organization.
중요
If you're in an Organization with either a Pro or Enterprise licence, then to create and update assets you need to have an assigned seat. You need to ensure that:
  • The seat needs to be of the same type as your Organization. For example, a Pro Organization should have a Pro seat.
  • The seat assigned to you is in the same Organization as the one you want to access.
To check if you've been assigned a seat, go to:
  • Unity ID if you purchased your license online.
    1. Sign in to your account.
    2. On the left side, select My Seats.
  • Unity Cloud if you got your license through managed sales.
    1. Sign in to your account.
    2. Open the Account menu and select Manage organization.
    3. In the Administration menu, select My Products > Subscriptions.
참고
If you don't have a seat assigned to you, then you can do one of the below:
  • You can assign yourself a seat based on your privileges. Go to:
    • Unity ID if you purchased your license online.
      1. Sign in to your account.
      2. On the left side, select My Seats.
      3. Go to the Organization name you want, select the gear icon.
      4. In the Managed seats tab, enable your name.
      5. Select the Assign seat(s) button.
    • Unity Cloud if you got your license through managed sales.
      1. Sign in to your Unity Cloud account.
      2. Open the Account menu and select Manage organization.
      3. In the Administration menu, select Settings.
  • Contact your Organization Owner to assign you a seat.

You need to have a Cloud Enterprise or Unity Industry license to create 3D Data Streaming files. However, if you only need to view an asset with 3D Data Streaming, a Cloud Collaborate license is sufficient and it doesn't need to be combined with a Cloud Enterprise or Unity Industry license.

Verify your permissions

중요
Asset Manger roles specify permissions you have for a single Asset Manager project. Depending on your work, permissions can vary across different Projects.
To understand your permissions for in an Asset Manager Project:
  1. In the Unity Dashboard, select Home > Projects.
  2. Select the project you want to review permissions for.
  3. To verify that you are working in the correct Unity organization, view your organization name in the Account menu.
  4. In the primary navigation menu, select Development > Members.
  5. Search for your name or email address. Your Asset Manager role appears in the Roles column.
