Player density refers to the density, or number, of players within a region at a given time. The player density often changes based on the time of day and the update release schedule of the game. For example, a game might have a higher density in a region around the time people in the region get off work. The player density usually increases further after a major update to the game is released in the region. It’s important to keep track of changes in player density because it can help you better prepare to accommodate changes in player demand. For instance, if a game suddenly becomes popular in one region and less popular in another region, it might make sense to redistribute bare metal capacity away from the region with less demand and to the region with higher demand.
