Get started as an Administrator

How to set up Asset Manager for your organization, create your first project and invite members.

Read time 3 minutes

To start using Asset Manager for your organization, you need to:

  1. Create an Asset Manager project.
  2. Invite members to your project.
  3. Assign a Project Manager or grant Asset Manager permissions to members.

Create an Asset Manager Project

Cloud Projects are shared across Unity Cloud services. Since Asset Manager is one such service, you need to enable it on an existing Cloud Project. If you don't have any existing Cloud Project, you can create one from scratch by following these steps:

When you're an Admin or a Manager of your organization and it's the first time you connect to the Asset Manager, you need to create an Asset Manager Project:

  1. Connect to the Asset Manager in Unity Cloud.

  2. Select Create Project on the main page.

  3. There are 2 tabs to either:

    • Create a new Asset Manager project
    • Enable an existing Project
  4. Enter a Name.

  5. Validate.

Invite Members to Your Project and Choose a Project Manager

When your Asset Manager project is created, you need to invite members and assign them a user type and a project role so they can access and manage content with the appropriate level of permissions.

For this:

  1. Right-click on the project in the left nav and select Project settings.
  2. Under the project details, select the Project members tab.
  3. Select Add project members.
  4. In the Emails field, enter the user's email address.
  5. Select the project user type. Members of your organization can have one of the following user types in a project: Owner, Manager, or User.

If you select Owner or Manager, this user will now have the ability to invite and manage member permissions in this particular project (recommended). Refer to Manage access to your project to learn more about Project user types.

Grant Asset Manager-Specific Project Roles

You can also invite other members and assign them a Project User type. In order for these members to see the project in Asset Manager, you need to grant them an Asset Manager role: Contributor, Consumer, or Viewer. See Asset Manager roles documentation for more information about permissions.

Inform the Project Manager and Start Uploading Assets

You can now contact the Project Manager to inform them that they can invite members to the created project and grant roles. All members added to the project with a Project Manager user type or an Asset Manager project role can see the project in Asset Manager.
