Self-Hosted Deployment is a self-managed version of Unity Cloud services that lets you deploy and manage your assets entirely within your own cloud infrastructure.
While Unity Studio works by default with Unity Cloud services, you can also use it with a Self-Hosted Deployment.
A Self-Hosted Deployment allows you to deploy supported Unity services within your own infrastructure. This gives you greater control over data such as 3D assets and user activity.

Limitations of using Unity Studio with a Self-Hosted Deployment

Because a Self-Hosted Deployment is a secure, isolated environment, it doesn't connect to the external public cloud services that certain features of Unity Studio rely on. As a result, using Unity Studio on a Self-Hosted Deployment comes with the following limitations:
  • No AI enhancement features: You can't use the AI enhancement tools and features such as AI Screenshot Enhancement.
  • No in-app tutorials: Interactive tutorials aren't available to guide you through the features and functionalities of Unity Studio.
  • No templates: You don't have access to the standard Unity Studio templates. The only available template is the default Empty Scene, which means you must create new drafts from scratch.
  • No access to Unity assets libraries: You can't access the Unity Asset Store or any other online asset libraries to import assets directly into your drafts. You must upload and manage your assets manually within your Self-Hosted Deployment environment.

Access requirements for Unity Studio on a Self-Hosted Deployment

To access Unity Studio within a Self-Hosted Deployment environment, you must have one of the following roles:
  • Organization Owner: Grants you access to all project assets across the organization.
  • Asset Manager Contributor: Grants you access to assets on a per-project basis. You must configure this role for each specific project you want to access.

Set up Unity Studio with a Self-Hosted Deployment

Unity Studio relies on the Unity Asset Manager to operate within a Self-Hosted Deployment architecture. To set up and access Unity Studio from a Self-Hosted Deployment, you must first configure your Self-Hosted Deployment environment.
For full setup instructions for your chosen cloud provider, refer to the Self-Hosted Deployment documentation.
