Attention: VisualLive is not available for purchase on visuallive.com after May 1, 2023, and can only be purchased through a Unity client partner until June 30, 2023. Maintenance support as outlined in the terms of service ends either May 1, 2024 or one year after purchase; with no new features added and only minor bug fixes supported.
Prepare a model for VisualLive
Before you launch the VisualLive plug-in, open your model in Navisworks or Revit. You must create all necessary worksets before you export the model.
Create worksets
Larger models take longer to export to VisualLive and their performance may suffer on mobile or HoloLens devices. This section provides information on the performance you can expect from your model and how you can create worksets to optimize it.
Check polygon count (Navisworks)
File size is not a reliable predictor of performance in VisualLive. Instead, one metric you can check is the polygon count.
- To check the polygon count of a model in Navisworks, go to Home > Properties > Scene Statistics and look for Triangles, Lines and Points.
Section your model
For models in the yellow or red zone, you should section your model using worksets. Worksets allow you to push entire models to the cloud in custom sections.
For Navisworks projects, these worksets can include:
Selection sets
Note: Hidden objects in the selection tree do not export from the VisualLive plugin. However, because Navisworks section boxes do not cut or auto-hide geometry, you should manually hide objects outside the section box before exporting.
For information about selection sets, see the Autodesk documentation.
Viewpoints
For information about viewpoints, see the Autodesk documentation.
For Revit projects, these worksets can include:
Categories
For information about categories, see the Autodesk documentation.
Section boxes
For information about section boxes, see the Autodesk documentation.
Create a schedule (Revit)
In Revit, you can push a schedule with your model. For information on creating schedules, see the Autodesk documentation.
