Add a custom metadata field
How to make your assets more discoverable with metadata fields in your Organization.

When you add a new asset to an Asset Manager Project, the automatically populates values default metadata fields, such as File type and the Date you added it. To make it easier to find and discover assets in the context of your work and business, you can also add metadata using fields managed by your Organization.
Before you begin
You must have a Contributor role to add or edit metadata for a Unity Cloud Asset.Add metadata to an asset
Adding to a Unity Cloud Asset involves editing the asset to which you want to add metadata and then selecting an available field from your Organizations metadata library. To add a custom metadata field, follow these steps:- In the Asset Manager interface, select the asset you want to which you want to add metadata, and then select Edit.
- In the Asset Details section, select Add Metadata.
- In the drop-down that appears, use search and filtering options to select a field from existing metadata fields in your Organization and then select Add.
- Enter a value for the field. Make sure the value you enter respects the type for the field. For example, enter a number value for a field with Numeric type. For more information about available field types, read about Asset metadata.
- Select Save asset. The new field appears in the list of metadata for the asset.
