Introduction to the Cloud Repositories project
Understand whether the Cloud Repositories project applies to your organization, how its access works, and which management option to choose.

On April 14, 2025, Unity Version Control (UVCS) started using Unity organization and Unity Cloud project permissions to control access to repositories. Organizations that had repositories before this change have a Unity Cloud project named Cloud Repositories. This project holds those repositories and keeps the access that each user had before the change.
Check whether the Cloud Repositories project applies to your organization, understand how its access differs from other projects, and choose how to manage it.
Check whether this applies to your organization
The Cloud Repositories project exists only if your organization had UVCS repositories before April 14, 2025. The following table describes what to do in each situation:
Your organization | What to do |
|---|---|
| Had UVCS repositories before April 14, 2025. | Find the Cloud Repositories project in your organization's list of Unity Cloud projects, and choose how to manage the project. |
| Had no UVCS repositories before April 14, 2025. | No action needed. Your organization doesn't have a Cloud Repositories project. |
| Signed up for Unity DevOps on or after April 14, 2025. | No action needed. Your repositories already use standard Unity organization and project permissions. |
If you expect to have a Cloud Repositories project but can't find it, refer to Troubleshooting the Cloud Repositories project.
How access works in the Cloud Repositories project
In a standard Unity Cloud project, all project members can access all repositories in the project. The Cloud Repositories project works differently, so that the change on April 14, 2025 didn't give anyone access to repositories they couldn't access before:
- Repositories keep the security and access controls they had before the change.
- Members of the Unity organization don't get automatic access to the repositories.
In all other ways, the Cloud Repositories project works like any other Unity Cloud project. You can rename it at any time.
Choose how to manage the project
You can keep using the Cloud Repositories project indefinitely. The following table describes your options, when to choose each one, and what to do next:
Option | Choose this option if | Result | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keep the current access model. | You want only specific users to access these repositories. | Users can access the repositories only when you add them as project members. | Grant or revoke repository access. |
| Convert to standard permissions. | You want all members of the organization and project to access all of these repositories. | All members of the Unity organization and project gain access to all repositories in the project. | Convert to standard permissions. |
| Move repositories to another project. | You want to organize these repositories differently. | Standard Unity organization and project permissions apply to the repositories you move. | Move each repository to the Unity Cloud project you want. |
