Some Unity Version Control (UVCS) features in the Unity Editor require the UVCS desktop application.
Features
The desktop application adds the following functionality to the Editor:
- View diffs for changesets.
- Use the workspace explorer.
- Use the branch explorer.
- Get notifications and alerts. For example, the desktop application prompts you to add a comment if you check in files without one. For more information, refer to Check in files.
Install the desktop application

To install the desktop application from the Unity Editor:
- In the Unity Version Control window, select the cog icon.
- Select Open in Desktop App.
- Select Download Cloud Edition.
