Install Unity Version Control on Linux
Install and set up Unity Version Control (UVCS), formerly Plastic SCM, using package managers of supported Linux distributions.
Install Unity Version Control (UVCS), formerly Plastic SCM, on Debian-based or RPM-based Linux distributions.
注
UVCS supports only x64 (amd64) architectures.
Install UVCS
-
Add the public signing key:
sudo install -d /etc/apt/keyringswget -O - https://uvcs.unity3d.com/linux/keys/public | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /etc/apt/keyrings/uvcs.gpg
-
Add the UVCS repository:
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/uvcs.gpg] https://uvcs.unity3d.com/linux/repos/deb stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/uvcs.list
-
Update the package cache and install the package:
sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install plasticscm-cloud
After installing, run
(desktop client application) or
(command-line client) to enter your Unity Version Control Cloud Edition credentials, connect with your organization, and start collaborating.
注
UVCS Linux packages use a different repository location and signing keys.
If you already installed UVCS on your system, you can safely remove the
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/plasticscm-stable.list
legacy repository file
and its GPG file
/usr/share/keyrings/plasticscm-stable.gpg
.
After removing the legacy files, follow the previous steps to set up the repository and upgrade to newer UVCS versions.
-
Add the UVCS repository:
sudo wget https://uvcs.unity3d.com/linux/repos/rpm/stable/uvcs.repo -O /etc/yum.repos.d/uvcs.repo
-
Install the package:
sudo dnf install plasticscm-cloud
After installing, run
(desktop client application) or
(command-line client) to enter your Unity Version Control Cloud Edition credentials, connect with your organization, and start collaborating.
注
On RHEL or CentOS 8+ and Fedora,
is a symlink to
, so you can use either command to install UVCS.
注
UVCS Linux packages use a different repository location and signing keys.
If you already installed UVCS on your system, you can safely remove the legacy repository file:
sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/plasticscm-stable.repo
In some distributions, you might need to use the following instead of
dnf install plasticscm-cloud
to upgrade to newer UVCS versions:
dnf upgrade plasticscm-cloud
-
Add the UVCS repository:
sudo zypper addrepo -f https://uvcs.unity3d.com/linux/repos/rpm/stable uvcs
-
Refresh the repository and auto-import the GPG signing key:
sudo zypper --non-interactive --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh uvcs
This automatically trusts the repository's GPG signing key on first use.
-
Install the package:
sudo zypper install plasticscm-cloud
After installing, run
(desktop client application) or
(command-line client) to enter your Unity Version Control Cloud Edition credentials, connect with your organization, and start collaborating.
注
UVCS Linux packages use a different repository location and signing keys.
The package manager might show a warning about a vendor change to "Unity Technologies Inc.".
If that happens, add the
flag to the install command:
sudo zypper install --allow-vendor-change plasticscm-cloud
You can also safely remove the legacy repository by running:
sudo zypper removerepo plasticscm-stable
Install other UVCS components
The previous steps install the UVCS Cloud Edition package (
), which is the recommended default.
Replace the package name in the install command to set up a different component instead:
Use
to install both server and client tools with full control over your version control setup.
This setup is ideal for teams that use on-premises servers.
Use
to install the
command-line UVCS tool.
Use
to install the visual tools, including
and
.
Use
to install the
server.
ヒント
Enable automatic startup by running
systemctl enable plasticscm-server
after installation. This ensures your Unity Version Control server starts automatically when your system boots.
Use
to install the proxy server.
The proxy runs on port 8085 and automatically creates a
system service for reliable operation.
ヒント
Enable automatic startup for the proxy by running
systemctl enable plasticscm-proxy-server
after installation.
