Manage Unity projects

A Unity project represents a game or app your Organization is developing. You can create a Unity project:

If you create a project in the Unity Hub by default it's connected to a Unity Cloud project. If you need to link your project manually, refer to Configure projects for Unity Gaming Services.

Create projects in the Unity Cloud Dashboard

Creating a project from the Unity Cloud Dashboard ensures it’ll be connected to Unity Gaming Services when you open it in the Unity Editor. To create a new Unity project in the Unity Cloud Dashboard:

  1. Select Projects from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Select New in the upper-right of the Projects page.
  3. Enter a project name and COPPA designation.
  4. Select Create.

New projects are assigned to the active Organization at the time of creation. As such, projects inherit their Organization’s member roles and settings. However, if users need special access to certain tools or information, you can assign project-specific roles without granting access across the entire Organization’s portfolio of projects. Note that you can also transfer projects to a different Organization.

Edit projects

To change the name or icon of a project in the Unity Cloud Dashboard:

  1. Select Projects from the primary navigation menu.
  2. On the Projects page, select the project you want to edit.
  3. In the Project details section, click the edit icon () to change the project’s name or icon.

Transfer projects

To transfer a Unity project from one Organization to another, you must be an Owner or Manager of both Organizations.

Tip: You do not need to disable Unity Gaming Services for this process.

To transfer a project from the Unity Cloud Dashboard:

  1. Select Projects from the primary navigation menu.
  2. On the Projects page, select the project you want to transfer.
  3. Select Transfer project in the upper-right corner.
  4. Select from the list of available Organizations to move your project to, then select Transfer project.

Important: All future monetization revenue will appear under the new Organization. If you have existing ad revenue through the original Organization, please contact Unity about moving any unpaid earnings to the new Organization.

Archive projects

Archiving a project disables it across Unity Gaming Services and filters it out of your Organization’s projects list. Organization members with the Owner or Manager roles can archive projects. To archive a project from the Unity Cloud Dashboard:

  1. Select Projects from the primary navigation menu.
  2. On the Projects page, select the project you want to archive.
  3. Select Archive project in the upper-right corner.

Archived projects appear in the Archived tab of the Organization’s projects list. To reactivate an archived project, select Unarchive.

Configure projects for Unity Gaming Services

When you create a new project through the Unity Editor or Hub flow, it's connected to a Unity Cloud Project ID by default. If you do need to link an Editor project to a Unity Cloud project, you can create a new Project ID within the Unity Editor, or link to an existing one. To locate your Project ID in the Unity Cloud Dashboard:

  1. Select Projects from the primary navigation menu.
  2. Select the project you want to use.
  3. Copy the Project ID from the Project details section.

To link your project from the Unity Editor:

  1. Open the Services settings (Edit > Project Settings > Services).
  2. To link to an existing project you created in the Unity Cloud Dashboard, select Use an existing Unity project ID.
    1. Select your Organization from the Organizations dropdown. You must be signed in to the Unity Hub to see a list of associated Organizations.
    2. Select the project to link to in the Projects dropdown and select Link project ID.
  3. To link your project to a new ID, select Create a new Unity project ID.
    1. Select your Organization from the Organizations dropdown.
    2. Select Create project ID.

When you've linked your project to a Unity Cloud Project ID, the Services General Settings displays additional settings where you can unlink the specified Project ID, and define a COPPA compliance setting.

Your project is now linked to a Unity Cloud project.
