Comment thread window reference

Use the Comment thread window in Unity Studio to view, manage, and reply to comments.

To access a comment thread:
  1. In the toolbar in Scene View, select the Comment tool. The Comment thread window opens.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select a comment thread from the list.
    • Select a comment in the Scene view.

Hover over a comment in the Comment thread window to show the comment's content and location in the scene.

Comment thread overview

In the Comment thread window, you can gain access to the following options:

Property

Description

Resolve (checkmark icon)Select to mark the comment thread as resolved. This indicates that the issue or topic discussed in the thread has been addressed. You can hide resolved threads from view by adjusting the filter options in the Inspector panel.
Options menu (... icon)Select to access the following options for the comment thread:
  • Copy thread link: Select to copy a link to the comment thread. You can share this link with your team to direct them to the specific comment thread in the scene.
  • Unfollow this thread: Select to unfollow the comment thread. This removes the comment thread from your list of followed threads, and you no longer receive notifications for new comments in this thread.
  • Mark as unread: Select to mark the comment thread as unread. This can help you keep track of which comment threads you have already reviewed and which ones still require your attention. Displays a blue dot notification next to the comment or thread to highlight that it's unread.

Comments overview

In the Comment thread window, you can view all comments in the thread, including the original comment and all replies. Each comment includes the following information and options:

AuthorThe name of the person who posted the comment.
Options (... icon)Hover over the comment to access this menu. Select the menu for the following options:
  • Copy comment link: Select to copy a link to the specific comment. You can share this link with your team to direct them to the specific comment in the scene.
  • Copy message: Select to copy the text of the comment.
  • Edit: Select to edit the text of your comment, plus any attached files or sketches. This option only appears on comments that you have authored.
  • Delete: Select to delete the comment. A confirmation prompt appears to confirm that you want to delete the comment. This option only appears on comments that you have authored.
Date and timeThe date and time when the comment was posted.
Comment textThe text of the comment, plus any attached files or sketches.
Note
When you create a comment, a
thumbnail.jpg
screenshot is automatically attached. You can select the file to view what the initial draft contained. This ensures that comments still make sense even if the draft changes in future versions.
Emoji reactionReact to a comment with an emoji. Select the smiley face icon to choose an emoji to react with. You can also view which emojis your teammates have reacted with on each comment.

Reply section overview

The Comment thread window allows you to reply to comments in the thread. In the Reply section at the bottom of the window, you can enter your reply and customize it with attached files or sketches. For more information on the options in the Reply section, refer to the Comment input area overview.
