Add files from Unity Version Control to Cloud Assets

You can add files from Unity version control (Unity VCS) to Asset Manager. This helps you to easily work with large files, manage assets, and improve the discoverability of your assets stored in the Unity VCS repositories. For example, you can:

  • make Unity VCS the data source to create Asset Manager assets.
  • quickly find assets from Unity VCS in a gallery view.
  • enhance search precision for your assets with tags and filters.

What happens when I connect Unity VCS and Asset Manager accounts

When you connect your Asset Manager account to your Unity VCS account, two things happen:

  • You can add files from Unity VCS to Cloud Assets.
  • The changes you check in to files in Unity VCS are reflected in Asset Manager.

Before you start

Before you can successfully connect Asset Manager to Unity VCS, make sure you are:

  • an Owner or a Manager at an organization level or a user with an Asset Manager Admin's privileges for your organization. You must also have access to the Unity VCS organization and the repository from which you want to browse files to add to your Cloud Asset.
  • a member of the Asset Manager project to which you will add Unity VCS files and folders to. If you do not see the Asset Manager project you want to connect to in the Dashboard, contact the Owner for your organization to request for the correct permissions.
  • familiar with the Unity VCS repository you want to connect to and are able to identify which files you want to work with in Asset Manager.

For the connection between Asset Manager and Unity VCS to be successful, make sure that your repository is:

  • hosted in the cloud
  • free from Xlinks
  • unencrypted
