Unity Mediation setup checklist

Follow this checklist to install, set up, and use Unity Mediation (Beta) in your app.

After you download the latest version of the Unity Mediation (Beta) SDK, you can also refer to the following videos to:

  1. Install and configure the Unity Mediation SDK in the Unity Editor. (Covers checklist steps 1-3)

  2. Set up Unity Mediation in the Unity Dashboard. (Covers checklist steps 4-8)

Getting started

1 On the Unity Monetization Dashboard, select an organization to use for Unity Mediation, or create a new organization.

Install the Unity Mediation SDK

2

Uninstall the Unity Ads SDK and any third-party Mediation SDKs in your project, and then remove direct usage of Unity Ads and other third-party Mediation solutions.

Next, in Unity Editor 2019 LTS or later, install the Unity Mediation SDK:

  1. Download the tarball for the latest version of the Unity Mediation (Beta) SDK.

Note: Do not extract the package after you download it. Or, if you already have an earlier version of the Unity Mediation SDK installed, update to the latest version of the SDK from the Package Manager.
  2. Open your project in the Unity Editor and go to Window > Package Manager.

  3. In the Package Manager, select + > Add package from tarball.

  4. Select the Unity Mediation package from your computer, and then select Open.

Configure your game code for Mediation

3

For step-by-step instructions and API references, see the following resources:

For more information about integrating Unity Mediation with your project, see the Troubleshooting integrations guide. Or, you can Contact Unity Support.

Install ad network adapters in the Unity Editor

4
  1. In the Unity Editor, open the project you are using for Mediation.

  2. Go to Edit > Project Settings > Services > Mediation.

Note: If you do not see Mediation under Project Settings, review step 3 of this checklist.
  3. In the Adapter Configuration section, select and install the ad network adapters that you intend to use. For more information, see Unity Editor Mediation configuration.

  4. In the Code Generator Tool section, verify the selected platform and ad unit in the respective dropdown menus to generate a code snippet, and then copy it into your game code.

Repeat these steps as necessary for each project you want to use with Unity Mediation.

Select Unity Mediation as the Mediation Partner in the Dashboard

5

Designate Unity Mediation as the Mediation Partner for each project you want to set up to use Mediation.

  1. Go to the Unity Monetization Dashboard.

  2. Go to Current Project > Settings > Mediation partner.

  3. Set the Mediation partner to Unity Mediation.

Important: Failure to change the Mediation partner results in no traffic to Unity Mediation.

This gives you access to the Waterfalls page, and converts any existing placements to ad units, which you can use to set up waterfalls.

Note: Converting placements to ad units is not reversible. This conversion does not affect the live version of your game and ads continue to be served.

Set up Ad Sources

6

The requirements for ad source setup vary depending on whether you exclusively use the Unity Ads network, use third-party networks, or a mix of both.

After you successfully configure your Ad Sources, install adapters, and ensure that the adapters are enabled for use, your Ad Sources are set up from the dashboard side and the SDK side in your project, and your app can request ads from third-party ad networks.

In the Unity Editor, also confirm that you have installed the ad network adapters for each project you want to use with Unity Mediation.

For more information, see Configure an Ad Source.

Optional: Configure Ad Units in the Dashboard

7

Your mediation project comes with default Ad Units to cover different platforms and ad formats (Interstitial iOS, Interstitial Android, Rewarded iOS, and Rewarded Android), so no additional ad unit setup is needed.

To see all Ad Units, on the Unity Dashboard, go to Monetization > Ad Units.

To create additional Ad Units in your project, follow the steps in Configure an Ad Unit.

Create waterfalls in the Dashboard

8

You are now ready to create waterfalls for your project in the dashboard.

For more information, see Create a waterfall.
