Create a waterfall

Create a waterfall with an ads pricing strategy for your project by using Unity’s mediation platform. For more information, see Waterfall best practices.

Prerequisites: Configure an Ad Unit

The following networks are available for traditional waterfalls:

  • Unity’s Unified Auction (includes 60+ demand sources)
  • AdColony
  • AdMob
  • AppLovin
  • ironSource
  • Liftoff
  1. Go to the and select the project to use waterfalls for.

  2. Select Waterfalls, and then select Add New Waterfall.

  3. Name your waterfall, add geo targets, and then select the Ad Units that the waterfall will apply to.

Name waterfalls as contextually as possible for easy identification in the dashboard. If possible, reference the name of your project, its platform, ad format, and the geo target associated with the waterfall. Do not duplicate waterfall names.

  4. Select Apply.

Your new waterfall displays on the Waterfalls page, and you can now create line items.

Geo targeting

Use geo targeting to choose the countries thatyou want your ads to appear in. With this feature, you can target ads to unique audiences in each location.

Note: When specific countries are selected, waterfall geo targeting must be unique–for example, you cannot have two waterfalls that both target the same country.

  • The default setting, Global / Rest of the world, includes all countries. Alternatively, you can select from the recommended Geo Collection presets, or choose which countries to manually include.
  • After you add a waterfall and select Global / Rest of the world to target an ad, if another waterfall is targeted to a specific country, that specific country is prioritized over the global setting.
  • You can have multiple geo targets for a given Placement, but you must specify at least one geo target to create the Placement.

Note: Placements prioritize geo-specific prices over the global price setting, which is a blended average for all other countries (excluding those with specified targets).
