## Move Unity Licensing Server storage to EBS

For version 1.4 and newer.

The Unity Licensing Server data volume (`licserver-data`) doesn't provision to EFS anymore. It now provisions on EBS block storage: `kubernetes_ebs_storage_class_name`, which defaults to `gp3`.

Because StatefulSet volume claims are immutable, you must move the volume manually:

1. If a GitOps tool such as ArgoCD manages the deployment, pause its reconciliation of the `license-server` application.
2. Delete the `unity-licensing-server` StatefulSet and its `licserver-data-unity-licensing-server-0` volume claim.
3. Deploy this release.
4. For licensing data, do one of the following:
   * Request and import a new license bundle. No data backup is required. For more information, refer to [Licensing](/self-hosted-deployment/admin/licensing.md).
   * To keep your existing license data instead of re-importing it, use `common/scripts/migrate-licserver-storage.sh`. The script backs up the volume before the swap (`backup`) and restores it into the new one afterward (`restore`). The script header documents its usage.
