## Definition

* **Type:** Method
* **Namespace:** [UnityEngine.WSA](/engine/7000.0/script-reference/unityengine/wsa.md)
* **Assembly:** UnityEngine.CoreModule

## Update(string)

Sends a notification that changes how the tile looks, from an XML document.

```csharp
public void Update(string xml)
```

### Parameters

**** (\[string]\(https\://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.string)): A string that contains the XML document that describes the new look of the tile.

### Remarks

Use this overload for full control over the tile content. To access local application resources from the XML, use URIs that start with `ms-appx:///` or `ms-appdata://local`. If a URI points to a network resource, you must enable the internet access capability in the application manifest.

## Update(string, string, string, string)

Sends a notification that changes the tile to show an image, text, or both.

```csharp
public void Update(string medium, string wide, string large, string text)
```

### Parameters

**** (\[string]\(https\://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.string)): The URI of a 150x150 image to show on a medium tile.**** (\[string]\(https\://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.string)): The URI of a 310x150 image to show on a wide tile, if the tile supports that size.**** (\[string]\(https\://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.string)): The URI of a 310x310 image to show on a large tile, if the tile supports that size.**** (\[string]\(https\://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.string)): The text to show on the tile.

### Remarks

Use this convenience overload to update a tile without writing an XML document. You must provide at least one of `medium` and `text`. The method uses them to decide whether the tile shows only an image, only text, or both. To access local application resources, use URIs that start with `ms-appx:///` or `ms-appdata://local`. If a URI points to a network resource, you must enable the internet access capability in the application manifest.
