> Checks if the _layer for obj is included in the _layerMask to be filtered.

## Definition

* **Type:** Method
* **Namespace:** [UnityEngine](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine.md)
* **Assembly:** UnityEngine.Physics2DModule

```csharp
public bool IsFilteringLayerMask(GameObject obj)
```

### Parameters

**** (\[GameObject]\(/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/gameobject)): The [GameObject](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/gameobject.md) used to check the [\_layer](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/gameobject/layer.md).

### Returns

| Type                                                          | Description                                                               |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [bool](https://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/system.boolean) | Returns true when `obj` is excluded by the filter and false if otherwise. |

### Remarks

Filtering is defined as including or excluding objects based upon a specific condition. Layer mask filtering checks the [\_layer](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/gameobject/layer.md) and includes it when it is within the layer mask and excludes it if otherwise. IsFilteringLayerMask returns true when [\_useLayerMask](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/contactfilter2d/uselayermask.md) is set to true and the `obj` layer mask is not included by [\_layerMask](/engine/6000.7/script-reference/unityengine/contactfilter2d/layermask.md). This indicates the `obj` is filtered which means it should be excluded. IsFilteringLayerMask returns false if otherwise.
