# Package Manager preferences reference

> Reference for Package Manager preferences.

Use the Package Manager preferences to change the default cache location for the following packages:

* Packages installed from the Unity Registry
* Packages downloaded from the Asset Store

To open the preferences, go to **Edit > Preferences > Package Manager** (macOS: **Unity > Settings > Package Manager**).

| **Property**  | **Function**                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Packages**  | Set the cache location that determines the storage location of packages installed from the Unity Registry. For more information, refer to [Customize the global cache](/engine/6000.6/manual/packages-list/package-manager-caches/upm-config-cache.md).                 |
| **My Assets** | Set the cache location that determines the storage location of packages installed from the Asset Store. For more information, refer to [Customize the asset package cache location](/engine/6000.6/manual/packages-list/package-manager-caches/upm-config-cache-as.md). |
