# Video transparency support

> Understand the codecs Unity supports for transparency.

Unity's [Video Clip](/engine/6000.3/manual/video/sources/class-video-clip.md) and [Video Player](/engine/6000.3/manual/video/player/class.md) components support alpha values in video files, also known as [transparency](/engine/6000.3/manual/materials-and-shaders/built-in/shader-built-in-birp/shader-standard-shader/standard-shader-change-properties/material-parameter-albedo-color.md).

This information covers the different types of transparent videos and how to set them up for use in Unity.
