# avatarSetup

> The Avatar generation of the imported model.

## Definition

* **Type:** Property
* **Namespace:** [UnityEditor](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor.md)
* **Assembly:** UnityEditor

```csharp
public ModelImporterAvatarSetup avatarSetup { get; set; }
```

### Remarks

This property depends on the value of [ModelImporter.animationType](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporter/animationtype.md):

* [ModelImporterAnimationType.None](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteranimationtype/none.md) or [ModelImporterAnimationType.Legacy](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteranimationtype/legacy.md) sets this property to [ModelImporterAvatarSetup.NoAvatar](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteravatarsetup/noavatar.md) because Avatar generation does not support the None or Legacy animation types.

* [ModelImporterAnimationType.Generic](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteranimationtype/generic.md) supports any value.

* [ModelImporterAnimationType.Human](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteranimationtype/human.md) requires an avatar to import its animation. You must use either [ModelImporterAvatarSetup.CreateFromThisModel](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteravatarsetup/createfromthismodel.md), [ModelImporterAvatarSetup.CopyFromOther](/engine/6000.0/script-reference/unityeditor/modelimporteravatarsetup/copyfromother.md) or set autoGenerateAvatarMappingIfUnspecified to true .
