# Property Binder component

> Reference for the component that connects scene values to exposed properties for an attached Visual Effect instance.

A Property Binder is a C# Behaviour which you can attach to a GameObject with a [Visual Effect component](https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.visualeffectgraph@latest/index.html?subfolder=/manual/VisualEffectComponent.html). Property Binders allow for connections between Scene values and [Exposed Properties](https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.visualeffectgraph@latest/index.html?subfolder=/manual/Blackboard.html%23exposed-properties-in-the-inspector) for the attached Visual Effect instance.

This component only works when you install the Visual Effect Graph package. For information on how to install the Visual Effect Graph, see the [packages documentation](/engine/6000.0/manual/packages-list/managing-packages-window/upm-ui-actions/upm-ui-install.md).

For information on how to use Property Binders, see the Visual Effect Graph [package documentation](https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.visualeffectgraph@latest/index.html?subfolder=/manual/PropertyBinders.html).
