# Configure Developer Data settings for your project

> Define your project's Developer Data collection and usage settings to complete setup for unconfigured projects, or to override your organization-wide defaults.

You can define your Developer Data usage and collection settings for a specific project. You might want to configure your project's setting to do one of the following:

* Override your organization's default settings.
* Complete setup for an unconfigured projects
* Change an existing configuration to meet the needs of your project.

You configure your Developer Data settings in the Unity Dashboard, separately from the [diagnostic data collection settings](/cloud/developer-data/configure-diagnostics-editor.md) you define in the Unity Editor.

## Prerequisites

To configure your project's Developer Data settings, you must have one of the following roles:

* Organization Owner or Manager
* Project Owner or Manager

## Configure your Developer Data settings

For step-by-step instructions on how to configure your data collection and usage settings, refer to the following sections.

### Open your Developer Data settings

To open your project's Developer Data settings in the Dashboard, follow these steps:

> **Tip:**
>
> If you haven't yet configured your Developer Data settings for one or more projects in your organization, a notification banner appears in the Dashboard with a link to complete setup. You can select **Configure Developer Data Settings** to open your Developer Data settings.

1. In the [Unity Dashboard](https://cloud.unity.com), open your project and select **Settings**.
2. Next to the **Developer Data** field, select **Edit** (pencil icon).
3. If a list of projects is displayed, then select which projects you want to configure.
4. Confirm your acknowledgement of the [Unity Data Processing Addendum](https://unity.com/legal/unity-data-processing-addendum-dpa).
5. Do one of the following:
   * To review your data collection and usage settings, continue to the next step.
   * To accept all default settings without reviewing them, select **Save**.

### Choose which data Unity collects

To configure your data collection settings, follow these steps:

1. In the **Developer Data collection** section, select **Manage**.
2. On the [Collection Settings](/cloud/developer-data/collection-settings.md.md) tab, select which Developer Data Unity can collect on your behalf.
3. If you made any changes, then select **Save**.
4. Select **Next**.

### Choose how Unity can use your data

To configure your data usage settings, follow these steps:

1. On the [Usage Settings](/cloud/developer-data/data-usage-settings.md.md) tab, choose how Unity uses your data.
2. Select **Next**.
3. Read any additional terms related to your chosen usage settings, and then select **Confirm**.
4. Select **Next**.
5. Select **Save**.

Your project is now configured according to your chosen data collection and usage settings. Any configuration changes you make are automatically synchronized to your published games, with no new build required.
