# Create annotations

> Create and attach annotations to comments as visual feedback.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirement:

* You have the **Consumer** or higher role in the Asset Manager project.

## Create annotations

To create annotations and attach them to comments:

1. Select an asset. The side panel opens.
2. At the bottom of the side panel, expand the **Preview** section to open the viewer.
3. Select **Annotate**. The annotation toolbar appears.
4. Select the appropriate annotation tool to draw, mark, or highlight areas on the model.
5. Add a comment in the comment panel. If the comment panel is hidden, select the expand button to open the comment panel.
6. Select the **Submit** icon to save the annotation as an attachment with the comment.

> **Note:**
>
> * Annotations are linked to comments and threads:
>   * If you don't select a thread and submit an annotation, it creates a new thread.
>   * If you select a thread and submit an annotation, it's added as a new comment in that thread.

> **Note:**
>
> Each new camera angle or use of spatial markers creates a new annotation.
