Conceptually and hierarchically, Unity Cloud Assets are the highest level entity in Unity Asset Manager.

Every Unity Cloud Asset is a composition of datasets and metadata. Datasets are themselves a composition of files or references to other files.

When you upload a file to Unity Asset Manager, the system automatically adds a Unity Cloud Asset with a source dataset and a preview dataset.

Each file you upload creates a Unity Cloud Asset in a single Asset Manager Project, from which you can browse and filter your assets from the Asset Manager UI, developer interfaces, or the Unity Editor with the Asset Manager for Unity integration.

Your role within an Asset Manager Project determines permissions you have for viewing, downloading, or editing Unity Cloud Assets.

Before you start

To add an asset to a project, you must be assigned a Contributor role in the Asset Manager Project to which you will add content.

For more information about how your role, see Roles and permissions.
